How Past the Hedge sources travel guidance

Travel guidance is safety-relevant and changeable. Past the Hedge uses conservative coverage: it links to official sources where available and avoids presenting missing coverage as certainty.

What this guidance is — and is not

Past the Hedge surfaces travel-readiness questions alongside an itinerary. It is designed to help travelers notice what should be checked.

  • NotLegal advice
  • NotImmigration advice
  • NotA substitute for the current instructions of the relevant government authority

Source priority

Past the Hedge gives priority to official immigration, foreign-affairs, border, consular, and other appropriate government travel sources. Where a rule is shared across a bloc such as Schengen, an official supranational source may be more appropriate than repeating country-level summaries.

If a suitable official source cannot be verified, Past the Hedge may leave coverage absent rather than substitute an unsourced or commercial summary.

  1. The destination’s own authority

Official immigration, foreign-affairs, border, consular and other appropriate travel sources published by the government that sets the rule.

  2. The bloc, where the rule is the bloc’s

Where a rule is shared across a bloc such as Schengen, an official supranational source may be more appropriate than repeating country-level summaries.

  3. Unsourced or commercial summaries

Not used in place of an official source. If a suitable official source cannot be verified, coverage may be left absent instead.

Conflicts and insufficient evidence

When official sources conflict, are materially ambiguous, or cannot be verified with sufficient confidence, Past the Hedge should not collapse the uncertainty into a definitive rule. Coverage may be withheld until the discrepancy can be resolved.
